These words of comfort and joy from Psalm 100 are guiding the St. Andrews Centennial Celebration Committee as our work continues to take shape. What can the people of St. Andrews expect during this year of celebration? Here’s a first look:
- Each month through November, the last weekend is designated the centennial weekend, beginning January 24-25, when Harry Therwanger will be our guest preacher, and the Deacons will be the weekend’s sponsoring group. To date, other confirmed guest preachers include Jason Rensner in February and James Brammeier in June.

- Spend a minute or two at the display case outside the church office. The Centennial display will showcase items of interest from our long history in Park Ridge. See how that small group of families established St. Andrews in 1909 and follow along through the year as the display tells the story of how we grew in faith and fellowship.
- St. Andrews will host the World Day of Prayer on March 6.
- We’ll enjoy a Founders’ Day picnic on June 7, with great food and fun games. The picnic is open to all, so mark your calendars and tell your friends!
- We will produce a DVD containing a full library of photos and documents that will help each of us recall special memories and help all of us learn more about those who came before us.
- On November 15, we will worship all together at a single 10:00 a.m. service, with Pastor John Nunes, president of Lutheran World Relief, preaching. We will raise our voices to sing our Centennial hymn for the first time, and we will gather after the service for a celebratory luncheon at Casa Royale in Des Plaines.

- Watch for a Centennial Christmas ornament, a 2010 calendar, and other mementoes of this very special year.
Look for more Centennial news as the year unfolds and take advantage of opportunities for you to help right now. The Centennial Committee is looking for volunteers to help with DVD research and production, the picnic, and November banquet.
