A brilliant coorporate change leader, Rosabeth Moss-Kantor, once said of change, "everything looks like failure in the middle."  Oh wow, how true that is!  It is even true of something as important as the Reformation.  We celebrate the beginning of Reformation in 1517, but we have to look to the tough middle of the Reformation in one of the toughest years of Luther's life - 1527.  Luther was sick, the world was falling apart all around him, his friends were dying from martyrdom and the plague and his own faith was weak.  Yet, he learned of Christ's faithfulness, and the enduring nature of the promises of Christ in all situations, and ended up writing his most powerful hymn during these dark hours.
