Meditation for All Saints Day 2026

It's time for your "Car Ride Questions." As we prepare for worship every week, it's good to spend some time with the upcoming readings. We call these "Car Ride Questions" but they could just as easily be "Walking the Dog Questions" or "Dinner Table Questions." Regardless, let's grow in faith by reading and talking with one another!

1 “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. 3 All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.”

After reading the text, consider these prompts:
- If you had to pick three main points from these verses, what would you pick?
- On All Saints Day, we remember those who have died in the faith. How might these verses shape the way we think and speak about the death of a Christian?
- In Verse 2, John admits that he doesn't know exactly what it'll be like when Jesus returns ("what we will be has not yet been made known"). What's important is simply that it will happen and we will see Jesus! Think of a time when you should've admitted that you didn't know something.
