Hi. I’m Pastor Sam. I’m originally from a lovely town in Texas called Flower Mound where I was born and raised until I went off to college. My wife, Athena, and I have been married since 2017 and have been together since 2013. We met at Concordia University Wisconsin, where I attended college from 2010 to 2014. In August of 2015, I started studying to be a pastor at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and graduated in May of 2020. I started here at St. Andrews as the pastor of Youth and Family Ministry in July of 2020.
When it comes to who I am, I am someone with many interests and hobbies. First and foremost, I love to spend my free time outside – especially if it involves hiking, camping, canoeing, or kayaking, or simply having a fire with good friends and good drinks. I enjoy Chic-Fil-A a little bit more than what people would think is a healthy obsession. When I’m not outside or eating Chic-Fil-A, I also enjoy reading, journaling, listening to podcasts, and drinking coffee from new roasters or coffee shops. I enjoy a lot of sports and I am generally pretty loyal to all Dallas sports teams – especially the Texas Rangers. I have a lot of goals in my life and two of those goals are visiting every national park in the United States and also climbing the highest peak in each state. I’m someone that is passionate about many things and I believe in having goals that are challenging and frightening.
I am passionate about Youth and Family ministry because I believe those are primary parts of ministry where most growth happens. And here at St. Andrews, especially in Youth Group, you will grow in your faith, your friendships with fellow Christians, but you will also be challenged to live your faith and what that looks like being a student (for life!) in the Faith. If you’re interested in talking more about those things, let me know and we can get coffee or (even better) Chic-Fil-A together.
Thanks for taking the time in learning a little about me. I look forward to getting to know you soon.
