A Message from Pastor

Dear St. Andrews Family,

This is a big weekend at St. Andrews! During the Sunday Service Mr. Aaron Loveless, our new First Grade Teacher is going to be officially installed as a called worker here at St. Andrews. We are blessed to have a number of people on our staff working toward being rostered workers in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and thus eligible for a called position in our church. Our Director of Music, Jordan Holliday is currently pursuing his colloqy and our Principal, Mrs. Hillary Delanty, is also going to be pursuing her colloqy after she completes her Administration degree! We are blessed indeed!

Your Brother in Christ,
Pastor Matt
A GIFT TO THE GLORY OF GOD: An All-Saints’ Day Reflection - Weekend November 1st-2nd
As we prepare to celebrate All Saints’ Day, we give thanks for the faithful people whose lives have pointed us toward God. The whole Church remembers some, while others are known only to their families, friends, and communities. Yet each, in ways great or small, offered a gift to the glory of God.
St. Andrews provides a variety of opportunities for those to make a special gift to the glory of God in memory of a departed loved one. Please use this link to make a contribution in memory of a loved one.
May the witness of all the saints encourage us to live generously and faithfully. And may every gift we offer—seen or unseen—be given with gratitude and dedicated to the glory of God.
Gracious God, we thank you for all the saints who have gone before us. Strengthen us to follow their faithful example, to serve with joy, and to offer our lives as gifts to your glory. Amen.
To receive help with the forgoing, at no cost to you, please contact St. Andrews Christian Estate Planner, Ray Pagels on his cell: 847-226-2262 or [email protected]

FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: 193 households visited the St Paul of the Cross Pantry during the August distribution. This is a record number of households visiting during a non-holiday month. Most needed items are paper towels, spaghetti noodles, peanut butter and soups.

VANCO GIVING ENDING: St. Andrews will discontinue its partnership with Vanco at the end of December. Beginning in 2027, donations will no longer be able to made through Vanco. If you currently use Vanco for your recurring giving and need assistance ending your Vanco donations and setting up giving through Planning Center, please contact the church office at [email protected].

MISSION OF THE MONTH: Registration for this weekend's Crop Hunger Walk, our October Mission of the Month, will begin at 1:15 at the Park Ridge Community Church, and the walk will step off at 2 o’clock. A rest stop into the three-mile walk has been planned for Redeemer Church. This mission emphasis is based on the words of Jesus Himself when He points out in Matthew 25:35 that when we give food to hungry people we are really giving food to Jesus Himself. If you have not yet pledged to support a Crop walker, you can still do so today. When you do so, you will be participating in a nationwide movement to end hunger and poverty in the United States and around the world.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR PRAYERS:
Elizabeth Okray, Frank Brant Avila, Janet Reich, Carol Claybaker, Gigi Breitzman, Livia Grace Gallo, Daniel Avila, Sr., Eleanor Claybaker, Richard Avila, Carol Mraz, Laura Peter, Jeanette Peter, Shant Esho

How the Sausage is Made (Sermon Study) - October 15, 2026

Jesus’ question is not really about taxes. It’s about identity, allegiance, and who you actually belong to. Pastor Matt and Pastor Ethan unpack one of the most famous trap questions in Matthew 22 and show why Jesus’ answer cuts far deeper than politics. What starts as a tense exchange with the Pharisees and Herodians opens into a bigger conversation about …

Picture Perfect

Pastor Ethan explores a unique interaction between Jesus and the men trying to get rid of him. He is faced with a question about paying taxes to Caesar in hopes that he'll be condemned no matter how he answers. But Jesus refuses to play ball. His response “give to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things …

Muddy Windows

Pastor Ethan explores another one of Jesus' parables this week. Set against the backdrop of the perfect, eternal, heavenly Feast described in Isaiah 25, Jesus describes a much messier event. Guests refuse their invitations, people are rebellious, rude, and apathetic. A city is burned and a guest is thrown out. Through the messiness, and however muddled it may appear, the …
