A Message from Pastor

Dear St. Andrews Family,

I have had so much fun worshipping with all of you this summer! We are so blessed with talented musicians and great singing on Saturday and Sunday. And how appropriate as we spend our summer looking at Psalms, the songbook of the Old Testament! Singing as God's people is a tradition that dates back to Adam and Eve. Adam sang a song and danced when God created Eve! So make it a point to sing out, to think about the lyrics of the hymns and songs, and to be thankful for this wonderful gift of music we get to share together!

Your Brother in Christ,
Pastor Matt
TRANSFER THE BLESSINGS: ESTATE CLEANING and PLANNING
Renee and Fran were chatting as they walked out of Church last Sunday. Renee said, “I finally made the decision to move into a retirement community. My house was just getting to be too much for me, especially after Frank went to be with the Lord. But I just do not know where to get started on the packing. I have lived in that house for thirty years and there is so much stuff to sort through. I am having a tough time starting.” Fran replied, “If you would like, I can come help. I have a lot of boxes, and we can just pick off one room at a time.” Renee said, “Oh that would be lovely.” The process began on Wednesday with lots of laughter and even a few tears.

There are many “Big Things” in life that become easier to begin if we just have someone along with us. Christian estate planning is one of those. It requires organization of your information. It includes conversations about what you want to accomplish. It culminates in putting together legal documents that seem powerful, and maybe even a little scary. Your LCMS Foundation Associate Gift Planning Counselor can be your friend who will come along your side to get started. They have expertise and training in helping you move through each step of the process so that you can feel confident about the finished product when you sign documents with your attorney (if necessary). Instead of living with the burden of your procrastination, you can move forward, putting together a faithful stewardship plan directing the gifts the Lord has entrusted to you. FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: 165 households visited the St Paul of the Cross food pantry in June. Most needed items are cold cereal, pancake mix and syrup, canned tuna and WHITE rice (l lb.). Thank you for your continuing support!

MISSION OF THE MONTH: An important aim of our mission of the month Mission India is to increase the number of worshiping Christian congregations throughout India. Many Indian Christians are eager and ready to share the Good News of God’s love, and Mission India trains people to do just that. It is a fact that millions of people in India have literally never heard about Christ or even known someone who is a Christian. Many of these “unreached” folks have never seen a Christian church . Instead, they pray to idols to which they offer sacrifices and from whom they seek help in difficult times. Mission India has established a one-year training program for church planters during which they study the Bible and learn church planting strategies. Graduates from this program return to their own communities where they understand the language and local customs to share the Gospel and organize congregations that becomes self-sustaining. Please pray for the important work of Mission India and consider bringing a donation for this effort with your weekend offering.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR PRAYERS:
Elizabeth Okray, Frank Brant Avila, Janet Reich, Carol Claybaker, Gigi Breitzman, Livia Grace Gallo, Daniel Avila, Sr., Eleanor Claybaker, Richard Avila, Carol Mraz, Laura Peter, Jeanette Peter

Established for Eternity

Pastor Matt takes us through selections from Psalm 89.  In this Psalm, we are told to remember the promises God made to King David that God will, "establish your offpring forever, and build your throne for all generations."  We see that God did just this, but not through the means of power that we imagine.  No, God established Jesus as …

Why God Gives Us Prayer

Pastor Ethan continues our Psummer of Psalms series this week with a look at Psalm 86. This prayer of David not only teaches us how to pray but it sheds light on WHY God has given us this precious gift. (The reason may not be what you'd expect). Listen in and you'll learn about prayer from a whole new perspective.
