A Message from Pastor
This is an exciting week! Mrs. Hillary Delanty has officially started in her role as Principal of St. Andrews. Her first day was June 8 as she was attending a conference for Lutheran School Administrators. We are so excited to have her officially on board, and we ask for your prayers for her as there is much to do! She has her summer planned and will be prepped and ready to go as we approach August and the start of another great school year - the 115th for our beloved school! Welcome, Principal Delanty, to our St Andrews Family!

GIFT PLANNING: A good gift plan within an estate includes inheritance for family and gifts to ministry. As you consider an estate gift to your favorite ministry, should you talk with ministry leaders in this planning? If it has been a while since you were involved in a leadership role in your favorite ministry, you might not truly understand the best way to focus on a substantial future gift to facilitate ministry well. Your LCMS Foundation Associate Gift Planner can gather information or even facilitate a conversation. Contact Ray Pagels by phone at 847-226-2262 or email [email protected]

EXODUS WORLD SERVICE: We are still in need of a couple of items to complete the Household Care Packs for two local refugee families. Final collection dates for the items are June 20 and 21. If you are able to help, please visit the SignUp Genius at Board of Service Ministry: Exodus Project.
|
FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: 157 households visited the St Paul of the Cross food pantry in May. Most needed items are cold cereal, pancake syrup, pasta sauce and plain WHITE rice (l lb.). Thank you for your continuing support!

MISSION OF THE MONTH: When St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Pilsen was formed in 1871, it was one of the only Lutheran congregations in the Chicago area, and Pilsen was primarily an enclave of German immigrants. Now the area is predominantly Hispanic, and the congregation is served by Pastor Cesar Sifuentes and his wife Deaconess Elly Sifuentes. Worship services are offered in both English and Spanish, and the congregation serves veterans and homeless and unemployed neighbors through its soup kitchen El Comedor San Mateo, our June mission of the month. Volunteers and staff members serve hot meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and devotions at each meal share the Gospel with those who come to receive a free meal.

The Law of the Lord is Perfect
|
|
Pastor Matt takes us through Psalm 19 and connects it to Matthew 5:17-20. In the Gospel we learn how much Jesus values the Law of God, and in the Psalms we learn that even the Cosmos gives evidence to God's order, laws, and rules. God's Law is perfect, and if we open our eyes, we get to see it at …
