A Message from Pastor
I am so grateful for our Church and School Community. As I worship over the weekends, or walk through the school during the week, I am struck by the number of people in the "St. Andrews Orbit." The most striking thing to me is the dedication of our people. We have so many people who love Jesus, serve with strength and passion in the church and school, and who care for one another and take great care of each other. I would like you to consider who in your orbit could really use a connection to a community like St. Andrews. Pray for that person, and look for ways that God could be opening an opportunity to invite that person to a worship service or event at St. Andrews. We have a community we can be proud of, and it is a a joy to invite others to experience this great blessing with you!

TRANSFER THE BLESSINGS: A Bequest to Further Good Work
Nancy and David were dedicated volunteers. Over the years, they have seen many individuals helped by the good work of their favorite church. They wanted to create a legacy to provide future resources to continue its mission.
Dave: The work at St. Andrews Church was important to us and we provided support with current gifts but wanted to do more. We received their newsletter and noted that we could make a gift from our estate and join the legacy society. We saw a picture of smiling people just like us and we wanted to be part of that group.
Nancy: We met with our lawyer to revise our wills, and we each included a provision for a bequest. Our lawyer put language in the will that allows a percentage of our estate to go to St. Andrews Endowment Fund.. This was easy to arrange and permits us to still use our assets during our lives if we needed them.
We told their gift planner about our decision and were excited when we were invited to a special event honoring us. We will continue to make gifts during our lives, but it feels good to know that our support will help in the future. You also may want to make it easy and convenient to have a bequest included in your will. To receive confidential help with the foregoing, at no cost to you, please contact St. Andrews Christian Estate Planner, Ray Pagels, on his cell:847-226-2262 or at his email at raymondpagels1@ gmail.com

MISSION OF THE MONTH: Lutheran Blind Mission, our Mission of the Month, addresses the spiritual and social needs of blind and visually impaired people through the outreach centers it created in participating congregations. The centers are designed to assist blind and low vision individuals by offering such things as computer and job training, lessons on reading Braille, workshops on topics of interest, Bible studies, and a free monthly meal for attendees and their families. Annually, each blind outreach center reaches an average of 25 or more people –a group of folks that often feel forgotten or isolated, this according to Lisa Watts, Lutheran Blind Mission director of outreach centers. Watts, who herself has limited vision, tells us that congregations that operate such centers “reach out with love, compassion, resources, support, and of course, most importantly, the unconditional love of Christ for each of us.”

How the Sausage is Made (Sermon Study) - September 30, 2026
Two Parables from Matthew 21 Pastors Ethan and Matt reflect on Jesus’ parables of the two sons and the wicked tenants, exploring how the stories challenge listeners to recognize their need for God’s grace. The conversation centers on repentance—not as self-condemnation, but as turning toward God and trusting in his grace. The parable of the wicked tenants adds another layer: …

The Terrible Parable - The Noble Vineyard Owner
Pastor Matt takes us back to Matthew 21, to the second Parable Jesus tells during Holy Week. Jesus takes on the religious leaders who act as if they are in charge and have the authority that only God truly has. Jesus challenges them with a brutal parable about a vineyard owner whose tenants act as if they own the land, …

Which Did the Will of His Father?
Pastor Matt looks at a perplexing parable in Matthew 21:23-32 - the parable of the Two Sons. While this is a hard parable to understand, it does become clear when we see it in light of the authority of Jesus and his statement to the religious leaders of the day - "Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and …
