A Message from Pastor
When are you happy? Seriously, it's a question that we don't ask often enough, and sometimes it one that is harder to answer than we imagine it would be. I encourage you to ask yourself and your family members this question sometime this week. You might be surprised at the answer. So often we are consumed with our responsibilities, that we lose sight of the things that bring us joy. When is the last time you just went for a walk without worrying about how man steps you took? Or when have you red a book and not tried to remember some quotes you could use later? Take some time to experience joy, and make plans to have fun - this too is a way we can celebrate God's gracious blessings!

TRANSFER THE BLESSINGS: St. Andrews Endowment Funding
It is through your continuous prayers, gifts and act of support that helps St. Andrews provide care and education to continue its mission and vision.
You may be looking for a way to make a significant difference to help further the ministries at St. Andrews. Ways to support the mission could include a one-time gift, monthly giving, donor-advised fund, directing your Thrivent Choice Dollars and gifts of appreciated assets such as stocks or mutual funds.
We also encourage supporters to prayerfully consider including St. Andrews in their estate planning through wills, living trusts, or beneficiary designations a way to leave a lasting legacy.
To receive confidential help with the foregoing, at no cost to you, please contact St. Andrews Christian Estate Planner, Ray Pagels on his cell : 847-226-2262 on his email [email protected]
VANCO GIVING ENDING: St. Andrews will discontinue its partnership with Vanco at the end of December. Beginning in 2027, donations will no longer be able to made through Vanco. If you currently use Vanco for your recurring giving and need assistance ending your Vanco donations and setting up giving through Planning Center, please contact the church office at [email protected].
FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: 193 households visited the St Paul of the Cross Pantry during the September distribution. Most needed items are paper towels, spaghetti noodles, pasta sauce, SpaghettiOs and similar, and kid’s cereals (no cheerios type please). Thank you for your continued support!
MISSION OF THE MONTH: The Park Ridge/Niles Crop Hunger Walk is a response to the worldwide problem of food insufficiency for many families. The local walk is one of many occurring around the country that are sponsored by Church World Service to raise money to feed hungry people. Today and next Sunday, you will have the opportunity to offer pledge support for members of our congregation who will be walking next Sunday. Of the money collected for the Crop Hunger Walk, 25% will go to the Maine Township Emergency Food Pantry, and the rest will be sent to Church World Service for food assistance worldwide.

How The Sausage is Made (Sermon Study) - October 8, 2026
The parables in Matthew 22 are not just difficult—they confront the way we think about stewardship, invitation, and whether we are living as though everything belongs to God. Pastor Ethan and Pastor Matt unpack the “terrible parable” of the vineyard and preview the wedding banquet text with one central question: What do these stories reveal about us right now? Ethan …

Muddy Windows
Pastor Ethan explores another one of Jesus' parables this week. Set against the backdrop of the perfect, eternal, heavenly Feast described in Isaiah 25, Jesus describes a much messier event. Guests refuse their invitations, people are rebellious, rude, and apathetic. A city is burned and a guest is thrown out. Through the messiness, and however muddled it may appear, the …

The Most Terrible Parable - The Noble Vineyard Owner
Pastor Matt takes us back to Matthew 21, to the second Parable Jesus tells during Holy Week. Jesus takes on the religious leaders who act as if they are in charge and have the authority that only God truly has. Jesus challenges them with a brutal parable about a vineyard owner whose tenants act as if they own the land, …
