A Message from Pastor
Last week in our worship services we talked about the "weirdness" of the kindom of heaven, we even suggested the motto, "Keep St. Andrews Weird!" I am not sure we're making tee shirts yet, lol! This week we learn some powerful lessons about how Christians interact, and how we take a genuine interest in one another. I would like to invite you to consider how you can intentionally be weirdly generous and gracious to your neighbors. God has placed you in unique situations with specific people, how can you respond to God's grace by being used by God as a beacon of love and hope to those around you?

St. Andrews Lutheran Church and School Endowment Funds Gifts
|
|
There are several tax-efficient ways individuals and families can contribute to the St. Andrews Lutheran Church and School Endowment Fund. Each method can help donors maximize their giving impact while minimizing taxes. A few of the more common ways to contribute to a tax-efficient way include:

Donate appreciated assets held long-term (more than a year) instead of cash.
|
|
Donating long-term appreciated assets (such as stocks, mutual funds, paid up life insurance policies, certificate of deposits (CD’s), annuities or real estate held for over one year) allows the donor to avoid paying capital gains tax while claiming a charitable deduction for the asset’s fair market value. This can increase the size of the gift and save up to 15%–20% in capital gains tax while providing an income tax deduction up to 30% of adjusted gross income (AGI) for gifts to qualified charities. Note that the charitable contribution limit for appreciated assets is 30% which is lower than the limitation for cash contributions. Also note that the application of the limitation rules for combinations of cash and appreciated assets can be complex.

LWML LADIES LUNCHEON: The women's LWML group of Saint Paul Mt. Prospect are planning to host a luncheon to build awareness and provide financial support for Redeeming Life Outreach Ministry (RLOM). RLOM is a Christ-centered maternity home offering love, hope, and a future to single pregnant women in crisis. Based in Central Florida and expanded to Northern Illinois, RLOM is a Recognized Service Organization (RSO) of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. See https://www.rlom.org/ for more information.

FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: 138 households visited the St Paul of the Cross food pantry in July. Most needed items are cold cereal, pancake mix and syrup, and WHITE rice (l lb.). Thank you for your continuing support!

MISSION OF THE MONTH: People who are blind often feel isolated from the broader society. They may feel alone, unloved, and broken by a society that can be cruel and cold. The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod first began to address the needs of blind and visually impaired people in 1923 when it began producing devotional materials in Braille. Sixteen years later, Synod introduced its Library for the Blind which offers free and on loan Braille, large print, and audio materials to those with limited or no sight. Today, with more than 6,000 total items available (including the Lutheran Witness), it is the largest Christian lending library for people who are blind. Providing Braille and large print materials is just one of the features of our Mission of the Month Lutheran Blind Mission.
