A Message from Pastor

Greetings in Christ!

We are at about the midpoint of the Summer now, and it is a good time to take stock of this season. As I look at how I have spent my time, I am sad to report that I have not done a great job resting! Resting can be hard work, I know that sounds ironic, but it is true, in fact, it made the list of Commandments! What have you been doing this Summer to find rest in Christ? What are you doing differently than you do the rest of the year? I pray you can take some time to slow down a bit, and enjoy the gifts God has given you. Coming to worship is a big part of learning to rest, so come to St. Andrews this weekend, or find a church to visit while on vacation. See you soon!

TRANSFER THE BLESSINGS: Your Christian Preamble
We often think about our “Last Will and Testament” simply as directing dollars. But in effect, it is your last word about anything that is on your heart. Most people don’t use it for that, but you can. You can include a “Christian Preamble” by which you testify to your faith. (If your will is already complete, you can write a “family blessing” and put it with your will. Your LCMS Foundation Associate Gift Planning Counselor can help. FOOD PANTRY UPDATE: UPDATE: 165 households visited the St Paul of the Cross food pantry in June. Most needed items are cold cereal, pancake mix and syrup, canned tuna and WHITE rice (l lb.). Thank you for your continuing support!

MISSION OF THE MONTH: Our mission of the month Mission India came into being after in 1971 after Pastor John Davies visited India. Almost overwhelmed by the heat, the crowds of people, and the beggars on street corners grabbing at his sleeve, he was very impressed by the passionate Christians he met on that trip. Despite being extremely outnumbered, they were working hard to reach their fellow citizens for Christ. John was so impressed that he entered into a partnership with Indian Christians that marks the beginning of Mission India. The work of our monthly mission is complicated by the fact that persecution of Christians is very prevalent in India. The country is ranked by Open Doors as number 10 in the ranking of countries of the world for persecution of Christians. Nevertheless, Mission India is passionate about the work of sharing the Gospel despite the ongoing threats that they face.

PLEASE KEEP THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR PRAYERS:
Elizabeth Okray, Frank Brant Avila, Janet Reich, Carol Claybaker, Gigi Breitzman, Livia Grace Gallo, Daniel Avila, Sr., Eleanor Claybaker, Richard Avila, Carol Mraz, Laura Peter, Jeanette Peter

The Things of God

In Matthew 16 and Romans 12, God's Word gives us insight into the deeply counter-cultural nature of the Christian Faith.  Following Jesus looks so different from following the ways of the world, and the Things of God are so much higher and better and than the things below.  We have a God who defied convention to die and rise for …

Praise the Lord!

Pastor Matt brings us the the conclusion of our Psummer of Psalms series with the last Psalm - Psalm 150.  In this Psalm we are reminded to sing "Hallelujah!" or Praise the Lord!  God has done so much for us, and the Psalms remind us of so many aspects of God's love alive in our lives.  We go to the …
