Behavior Policy

Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all children attending the summer camp experience a safe, supportive, and enjoyable time while promoting Christian values. This policy outlines expected behavior and the consequences of inappropriate actions to maintain a positive environment for all campers, regardless of whether they are enrolled in our school.

Expected Behavior

  1. Respect for Others:
    • Treat others with kindness, courtesy, and respect.
    • Use positive language, avoiding name-calling, bullying, or any form of verbal abuse.
    • Demonstrate patience and cooperation during group activities and playtime.
  2. Honoring Authority:
    • Listen attentively and follow the instructions of camp leaders, counselors, and other staff members.
    • Show respect for all adults and leaders, recognizing their role in creating a safe and organized camp experience.
  3. Personal Responsibility:
    • Take care of personal belongings and respect the property of others and the camp.
    • Follow camp rules for safety, including staying within designated areas and abiding by activity-specific rules.
  4. Kindness to Creation:
    • Care for the camp’s environment, cleaning up after yourself and participating in environmental stewardship activities.

Unacceptable Behavior

To ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, the following behaviors are prohibited:

  1. Physical Aggression:
    • Fighting, hitting, pushing, or any form of physical harm is strictly prohibited.
  2. Bullying:
    • Any form of bullying, whether verbal, physical, or emotional, is not allowed and will be addressed immediately.
  3. Disrespecting Authority:

  6. Inappropriate Language or Actions:
    • Profanity, offensive gestures, or inappropriate comments will result in disciplinary action.

Disciplinary Procedures

While we believe in showing grace and mercy in line with Christian teachings, it is essential to maintain a safe and respectful environment. The following steps will be taken for misbehavior:

  1. Verbal Warning:
    • For minor infractions, the camper will receive a verbal warning, and the behavior will be discussed.
  2. Reflection Time:
    • If the behavior continues or escalates, the camper may be asked to take a "time-out" for a brief period to reflect on their actions and the impact they have on others.
  3. Parental Involvement:
    • For repeated or serious violations, parents or guardians will be contacted to discuss the camper’s behavior and determine an appropriate course of action.
  4. Dismissal from Camp:
    • In the case of severe or ongoing disruptive behavior, the camper may be asked to leave the camp, with no refund of fees. This step will only be taken after all other options have been exhausted.

Parent/Guardian Commitment

By enrolling their child in the summer camp, parents/guardians agree to support the behavior policy and work collaboratively with camp staff in addressing any concerns. We ask that parents discuss the expectations with their child before camp to ensure a positive and enriching experience for everyone.

Conclusion:
Our Christian summer camp is designed to provide children with a fun and safe environment while helping them grow in their faith. We ask that all campers abide by this behavior policy to maintain a harmonious and respectful camp experience, grounded in Christian principles of love, respect, and kindness.

This policy can be adjusted based on your camp's specific needs and objectives. It should also be communicated clearly to both parents and campers at the time of registration, and all staff should be trained on how to enforce it consistently and lovingly.
